Tolerance? You make it sound like we're 
discriminating against people who like certain 
kinds of anime. Next thing you know we will be 
forbidding our daughters to date men who like 
Dragonball Z. 

Tolerance means being aware and accepting of 
other people's viewpoints. It doesn't mean that 
we are not allowed to have an opinion ourselves. 

Drac made some excellent points. The appraisal of 
art will always be to a large extent subjective. 
We are humans, not computers. The objective 
criteria that you mentioned will always be 
colored by our emotions, past experiences, and 
sentimentalities. Good art is like good music. 
Far past analyzing it, you just have to "feel" it 
or you don't. And everyone feels things 
differently.  

It's pretty sad when you have to be afraid to 
have an opinion and to express it. The world 
would be utterly boring if everyone liked the 
same things. I personally love debating the 
relative merits of movies, art, etc. with people. 
And I always learn much more from the people who 
disagree with me than from the people who agree 
with me. Even from you--I still disagree with 
you, but I have learned something.
