High end collecting is about quality, not the
price.
All things being equal, the highest quality
artwork maintains the best value and liquidity.
Lower quality artwork falls faster and takes
longer for prices to recover, if ever.
Just look at dealer inventories. Low quality cels
stay on the shelves forever and mid-quality cels
take a long time to move. However, high grade
cels are snatched up immediately regardless of
the premium.
You cannot determine quality by price unless it's
for a specific series. But knowing that, high
quality and low quality can both be found below
and above your arbitrary price point.
