I agree with you on all of your points.  
Obviously, when you plonk down $1000 for a cel, 
it's more than likely for keeps.

But let's say you run into trouble later on and 
need to bail out...do you want an out, or does it 
matter?

Does spending a large sum of money make you think 
twice about buying a cel (because there is a 
chance you won't recoup the cost), or does it 
make the cel more attractive because you know 
very few if any people will have something 
similar?
