As I already mentioned, it happened many times 
with fansub groups : Some companies didn't mind it 
as long as there weren't too many abuses.
But when the situation degraded, they simply
hired a lawyer to send a "Cease and Desist" letter 
to all the club they could find. When that point 
was reached, they weren't going to check which 
club were fansubing only unlicensed (in english) 
anime and which ones were abusing. They ordered 
everybody to stop or be sued.
