Well, "feelings" have their place ^-^, now don't
they?
I have already given permission to have a cel of
mine be reproduced as a fancel...so what? Oh
yeah, feelings..Well, point-blank..
I feel like it doesn't bother me PERIOD.
I feel if someone copies this or that as long as
it "remains known as a copy", then "feeling-
wise" I am okay with it. I didn't make the thing
in the first place. So, for me, having so much
feelings attached to a possible item taken out of
a link or chain of thousands of frames of similar
items done by a staff of artists hired to fill in
the colors to produce one huge body of work, and
then being upset about my "tinie, tiny sliver of
the pie" being copied, well, that is just not me.
It feels trivial and petty to me. Life goes
on...nothing to get your panties caught up in a
bunch over, is how I feel. I have the original
anyway. Rejoice! for that too is a fleeting
fantasy. Now, don't misunderstand cause I just
love anime. However, I try to get away from the
purist thoughts of my ownership of cels something
so endearingly special. These are all, for the
most part,in IMHO hand-me-downs and used goods.
Past down from studio, to owners, to another
owner, etc. If Yukito Kishiro or Nobuteru Yuuki
handpainted a cel for me and me alone, then I
would very very pissed no doubt.
Another thing is that, most everyone dreams of
keeping there cels "forever", but how many
collectors actually do? When crisis occurs, there
they go. Need some cash, there they go. Tired of
collecting ,,there they go..on and on and on..and
they end up in my lap ^-^ Never to part! Yeah, I
wish...but reality tells me this might not be
so...one day..one great blue moon!
One of my favorite cels in my collection btw is a
fan cel. It is gorgeous and it was done by a
great artist named Gwen. I have no qualms about
it whatsoever. If someone has problems about it
let me know, I'd be glad to discuss terms.
I even contacted the copyright holder and
announced it, to the satisfaction of the right
holder. No problems whatsoever. I covered my
bases and I took the right steps. I feel great.
Now that that is over, getting back to my
original response over copyrights:
"In a nutshell", the post clears up a lot for
other readers that strayed off course of the
original topic and were discussing legalities of
ownership. Especially FY fans, anime fans in
general, and especially concerning the Japanese
mentality in general not to be concerned about
the issue (doujinshi for a great example) of
reproducted anime works.
"That's all folks!"
