Re: Offer Etiquette (Wed Jul 14 22:07:32 2004 )

WOW, Im posting! Now THAT'S rare ^_~

I just had to throw a shot in here. The offer
periods of today are mainly frustrating because
prices of today are not like they were last
year, etc. Like Mina said, if she paid XX for a
cel, and now the cel is more rare because cels
of said chara are nowhere to be found, then the
cel may be worth XXX....but man, people have
gotten CHEEEAPP! It's really infuriating to get
a 20$ offer on a great cel..

"It's my
feeling you should be ready to part with a shot
before it's on the block in ANY form. If
unwilling to part with it, make that darn clear."

Hmm, well..in the past I've made offers on
people's cels who werent chomping at the bit to
let them go. However, for me, an offer period
means "Make me an offer I cant refuse, and I'll
let you have something to make it worth your
while ^_~". And, 9 times out of 10...I got the
cel I wanted. (in best FMA voice) To gain
something, you must present something of =
worth, ne? In this case, you must present
something = to what the seller feels is an
adequate trade for something they worked hard to
find and pay for. Offers should be restricted
to extraordinarily rare and/or beautiful cels
and items. Because let's face it..no one ever
wants to let go of those outright. But if a
bigger fan comes along..hmmm, maybe that 500$
would be more useful to you than that watercolor
sketch of Ed (would die for one of those...cant
tell Im a FMA nut eh?)

Plus, then there's cels YOU got via offer, and
now want to part with, perhaps..for the right
price, but you know you cant get what you paid
for(cough-cough LEIGH offers), so you stick the
thing up for 'offers' to gague what people ARE
willing to pay for it...if anything at all. Id
rather someone put something up for offers
rather than stick a 1k price tag on it. Shizer!

Dam, I had someone offer me 50$ for one of my TV
Nuriko cels recently. DAAAAAM. (ROFLMAO) People
making the offeres are just as responsible for
the abhorance of the term as the sellers
accepting them....both sides are in the
dark..all you can do is throw your biggest $$$
out there and see what you get. If you're not
willing to do that, then you dont want the cel
that much...so just leave it..cause someone else
may be willing to offer what the seller really
wants. :D Its that simple...you either
paarticipate, or you dont..ignore the post, and
scroll down to the next one. I got almost all my
cels via offer periods. Usually, if I was off a
bit, the seller would let me know what they were
really leaning towards. At that point, I
either meet that, or I dont. Easy.

I do think folks should put a range, or min
offer on stuff...cause man, it's really
embarrasing to make an offer that's not even in
the ballpark...

(Im a rude beast, I know, blame the monthly
bill..)
