Well we already have heard quite a bit on offers,
so I guess I will mention my favorite offer.

This occurred about 2 years ago when I received a
nice e-mail from someone telling me how
priveledged I should be to know that they were
willing to pay 100 dollars for all of my Nausicaa
cels and because they were so generous, they
would be willing to pay 50 dollars for all of my
Gunnm cels. Once I got my jaw back in my mouth, I
politely let them know the cels were marked NFS
(I still had that marking on the cels, which I
subsequently changed to Don't Ask because way too
many people could not figure out that NFS
translates to not for sale) and furthermore that
they really should look around first at the
current cel prices before making offers to
people. I got back an e-mail saying that they
knew the cel prices and how dare I not accept
their more than fair offer. I sent back an e-mail
saying the answer was still no and that I did not
want to continue this conversation. After they
sent two more e-mails which I will not describe,
I blocked their e-mail account.

So the morale of this whole storie is that there
are still crazy people out there, who no matter
what you say or do, they will take insult. In
this casse, it was someone making an offer, but
in other cases it will be the person receiving
the offer. The big thing to remember is this is a
request for a transaction, not a personal
evaluation of your buying or selling habbits.
More importantly, all of us need to remember that
no means no and people are not omniscient and
cannot know what you paid for a cel.

One other comment I will make is that I,
personally, unless I am planning to sell a cel or
it is up for sale, do not know what I want for
it. That is why I demand a person make an offer.
Also, making an offer requires a commitment and
pretty much every offer I have accepted that
transaction has gone through. The few times I set
a price, the person agreed and then I never heard
back from them again. With the little free time I
have, this sort of action completely infuriates
me and I feel insulted which is the main reason I
don't even try to figure what I want for a cel
when I am asked. Lastly, I can't speak for
others, but every time I have received a off the
wall high offer, I have cut it down to what I
consider a reasonable level. This has probably
happened 20 or 30 times in the 7 years I have
been collecting and I really wish people would
try to be more fair in this regard. Of course I
am not going to hold my breath waiting for this
to happen and honestly since it is personal
choice, it does not really matter, but I can
still hope.

Catch you later,
Marcus
