This may sound like a surprised, but from what
I understand from Yasuhirow Nightow, he gets no
money whether I buy a tape or DVD over here or
NOT.
Yeah, but Pioneer gets money, and THEY paid him
for the licensing rights to the series. The
chain is a little longer than just
consumer:creator. It's more like
consumer:retailer:distributor:creator. The
original creator still stands to benefit if you
buy their stuff.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, for one, Yes, one of
the favorite fan sereis has a horrid subbing
job.
I'll give you that one. The series translator,
Kuni Kimura, is a decent translator-- provided
the target language is SPANISH. But he hasn't
worked for ADV in years-- most of their stuff is
now done by the likes of Dan Kanemitsu, Masako
Arakawa, and Shoko Ono-- much better translators.
Shall I go into the monstrosity that is the
Ranma subs?
The Ranma subs are fine, Toshi translated those.
Well, except for those crazy Trish-tastic song
lyrics.
Okay, how about this: Can you give me an example
of poor translation that's less than six years
old?
