Hai Hai
I totally agree with you there, I always start
off with commissioning screen caps, before I even
consider into dabbing into fanfic idead or
picking at the artsits brain.
Why?
well first off it's cheaper, you pay like $30 and
get a fancel of your fave seen and at the same
time see just how good they are at painting a
fancel, then commission a few more and see if
there work is the same and doesn't lower in
quality.
If I'm convinced and am impressed through and
thorough then I consider commisioning an original
and/or fanmade piece. Beacause at that paoint I
know that the artist is good and I know their
ethics, ie how friendly they are, turn around
time and so on and so on.
Original art is more expensive, so why would I
start off with a $50-$100 piece when I don't even
know how the artists work is firsthand.
So yea I take the route of a screen cap first.
And hey it's notonly the artists who get flamed,
the buyers do as well, I don't know how many
production cel collectors I had flame me when I
had my gallery up and accuse me of stealing their
production cel.
Amd I go "dude, I made a god damn screen cap, I
didn't steal your stupid cel" It is not that
hard to pop in a dvd and make a screen cap. And
when you own a highly thought after cel, like
that sakura, chances are that most likely their
will be a fancel made off it.
Why? well because other people want it to, and
since the production cel owner wont give it up
all the rest of us can do as get a fancel, may
not be just AS nice, but close enough.
It's gotten just as bad for the fancel collectors
as it has for the fancel painters, I got flamed s
badly at one point I ended up having to take my
gallery down. And that's ridiculous!
I just don't see how people can't understand such
a simple thing as a creen cap, it takes 5 seconds
to make, it's not that hard, I've made a shit
load when I wanted to find matching scenes to my
production cels, or when I was commissioning
screen cps.
