haha that's funny, I never heard anything about
that... But whenever I say how bad dubs are,
there's always at least one person that
responds, "It could be way worse." I totally
agree with that, but that's not the point, is
it? heehee The point is that in general, dubbed
stuff is horrid and DOES make those that love the
original Japanese version cringe. I think the
least these American companies could do is pay
enough respect to the original and try their best
at producing an English version. The more I
think about it, the more I really don't
understand why dubs are so bad in the first
place. Maybe some of you can help me think of an
idea of why this is. Is it because the dubbing
companies really don't care? Or is it just
because they don't know how to do something
right? What exactly is the process an anime goes
through when it is dubbed into English? Do the
actors watch the original and see how the
characters act and speak in Japanese? If not, I
certainly believe that this would help things
immensely! Also, how well do the actors KNOW the
character they play? For the most part, all the
voice actors do is read lines on a sheet of
paper. This is SO wrong and I can't be more
against it. Those who simply read their lines
cannot be considered as actors, for what is
acting without expressing TRUE emotion? It seems
like a simple thing to ask of actors, doesn’t
it? I may feel differently about English anime
once they start putting some real talent into
them. They certainly don’t need to be big name
actors such as they had done in Mononoke Hime;
all they need is people willing to forget who
they are for one moment and become the character
they play, 100%. Nothing less will do.
Anyway, that's my rant. lol ja!
