Yeah, I guess it's all for personal preferences. 
You just have to catch the right ep of SM to 
catch the dark undertones...in reality, the 
series is quite obsessed with death. The senshi 
die more times than I can count on my finger, and 
every time is heart-wrenching and agonizing and 
they all have to watch in terror. Wheeee!!

Hehe...yeah...some anime panders, 'tis true ^^ 
That's the basis for Gundam Wing...the show was 
made by Bandai as a commercial outlet...that's 
why the Gboys have so many different models of 
their Gundams. So Bandai can market every one of 
those nifty little models...

Said the girl who owns the models ^^ What can I 
say, they made a good series for 
commercialization.

FY I love as well, despite the absolutely horrid 
music (keyboards and synethesizers, yeeeech). It 
may be cheesy and at times very very predictable, 
and the names of characters may be the most 
spoekn dialogue, and it may be technically 
softcore porn for all Miaka is naked...but it's 
so damned sweet I forgive it. Plus it has Tasuki, 
yum yum. Yes, FY panders, but who cares...how 
could something so wrong feel this good? Hehe. I 
will say, FY does have it's own plot twists and 
horrific events, and the humour is very tongue in 
cheek, making fun of itself. It doesn't take 
itself TOO seriously, and that's why I love it ^^
