i used to think that it was wrong to bid at the
last minute, because it wasn't really fair to
the person who had already bid 8 days 23 hours
ago (etc etc on time). but i have been outbid so
many times at the last minute that i really
don't care anymore. sniping has become such a
bad thing on eBay, too, that if i am selling
something and it's not getting any bids i won't
end it because i know that there's probably
someone waiting to bid at the last minute.
that gets the bidder a cel for a lot cheaper
than they would have gotten at a dealer site,
but it's not always good for the seller. when i
list on eBay i usually start cels at lower or
equal to what i paid for them, no markup like a
dealer site. so if people wait to bid and the
cel was started for lower than what i paid, i'm
losing money. that's the only thing that i don't
like about sniping.
i do bid at the last minute if it's a cel that i
want very badly, and i will admit that i do bid
in increments. but it's not to jack the price
up, either. on day one i might only have $50 to
spend for the cel, but by day 9 i may have
gotten a paycheck or some surprise cash from
somewhere and am able to bid more. i don't want
to jack the price up above what i have to spend,
so i don't bid my max right away. there's
nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
