not that i really know much about copyright stuff 
or have much of an opinion on this entire fancel 
thing... tho i won't buy fancels of existing cels 
as a matter of principle... but i think the 
reproduction of existing cels and the 
reproduction of paintings and stuff is different.

first of all, i think the copyright time limit 
for those famouse works is already past... it's 
something like 50 years after the artist's 
death... 
secondly, for things that are still under 
copyright protection and maybe even for those 
that aren't (i don't know for sure), i'm sure the 
people who copy the stuff to market it to the 
general public are paying a fee to reproduce the 
material... or at least have the owner's 
permission... 

and i guess i do think that owning the actual cel 
gives you a little bit of say in the matter of 
copies. yeah, you don't have the rights to the 
chracter and such cause you own a piece of 
something used in the anime... that belongs to 
the genius who came up with the idea... however, 
just like a painting you buy, you still own the 
original, so others should not be allowed to copy 
that original without your permission...
