Okay, this will be the last post from me on this
topic, as I am wearing out my welcome, hahah. I
rarely post like this anymore, but this is just
a passionate subject for me. I totally
disagree. You may own that cel, but you still
do not own that image, or that character,
therefor you shouldnt have any rights to tell
others they cant use that image (as long as it's
scrupulous). I mean, I see fanart out the yang,
all over the place! I see custom dolls, ufos,
cels, posters, t-shirts, you name it. If
someone made a drawing of my cel and put it on a
t-shirt and wore it, I wouldnt give a care. I
really wouldnt! Like I said, I KNOW I own the
original...so what's it to me if someone else
likes it and wants to mimic it? Anime is for
everyone, what gives me the right to lord
my "property" over everyone? Lets say they sell
it online, as long as they state it's a repro or
fanwork, I dont care. Just doesnt make a
difference to me, and I really feel that taking
total ownership of your cels and the images on
them is a really ballsy thing to state.
This whole thing reminds me of how Disney is.
Did you know you cant make any fanart of Disney
charas, not at all? You will get sued for even
making a crappy pencil drawing of Mickey Mouse
if it's caught online. Im doing some Kingdom
Hearts fanart...but I will not be able to
include any of their charas. I dont want to
make money off of them, I simply want to show my
love for the game. There are no Kingdom Hearts
websites with art anymore either, Disney has
shut them all down and threatened them.
Now.....if you want to be like Disney and police
the animation world with an iron fist, the by
all means. Im just saying, dont taint
everything. There are alawys criminals and
fakes, but some people really just want to paint
and draw fanworks ~_~ Maybe they cant afford
the 1500$ Belldandy cel...so what choice do they
have? |
