Man, I feel old! 8( (Fri May 12 21:04:10 2000
) Sonia Lai slai@physics.spa.umn.edu |
Dear KenOhki, Wow, I feel so old! 8( There are only a few people here that are actually near my age range (I will be turning the big 30 this June!)! Anyway, if really want to know who I am, as you can see my name is Sonia. I am currently 29 years old. I am an ex- physics graduate student from the University of Minnesota. I studied magnetospheric physics, but I have since moved on with my life. I am currently deciding whether or not I should go back to school to get a Ph.D., but NOT in physics. Physics and I have a love/hate-HATE relationship. =P The first anime I ever watched was Princess Knight back when it aired on Saturday morning (syndicated). For some reason, I was very captivated by the story and the animation style, but at the time (I think I was under 10 years old) I could not figure out why. Other early anime memories include Rankin Bass' offerings (The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, The Last Unicorn, Flight of Dragons) and Unico. My sister later introduced me to Robotech and Voltron. I started cel collecting after watching Sailor Moon, and I still mainly collect magical girl anime shows (Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Wedding Peach, St. Tail, Rayearth, etc.), but I also collect other anime shows (Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo, Fushigi Yuugi, Gran Doll, Battle Athletes, Project A-Ko, etc.). I also have the bad habit of collecting cels from shows I have never seen before, but I bought them because the artwork was nice =). It's not that I don't want to see the shows, but I have a hard time finding the time (and funds in some cases) to do so. Most of my T.V. watching time now is dedicated mainly in American animation. I have been a cartoon nut since I was 4 or 5, and it hasn't curbed since ESPECIALLY since I discovered the joys of listening and identifying voice artists which I started when I was 13. My friends have a website if you are intrigued by voice acting: http://www.voicechasers.org Since I'm HTML handicapped, I really didn't contribute much to the site =(, but I did donate my 200 page voice artist catalog to them. It's a surprisingly addictive hobby! I guess that's it about my boring life =b. I hope nobody fell asleep reading this! Sincerely, Sonia |
