I have yet to hear a good reason (other than
greed, if you consider that a good reason) for
ANYONE to jack up prices on cels absolutely as
far as the market will posssibly allow.
And in any case, when someone does as such,
they're shooting themselves in the foot anyway.
Cels are not food. Cels are not clothing. Cels
are not housing. Cels are not transportation.
Cels are not necessary either to live or to
function in society. As such, there are limited
numbers of people who will spend lots of hard-
earned cash on useless pieces of plastic and
paint. If a dealer keeps jacking up prices and
wringing collectors for absoultely every pennt
they can possibly get per cel, they will quickly
find that not only do their clients NOT have any
more disposable income to spend, but the high
prices have also scared away potential NEW
clients. Then the dealer's business dries up. . .
Think back to the story of the Lorax, only
instead of sucking up hordes of Truffula trees,
dealers who jack up prices to insane amounts are
sucking up people's disposable income. . . BOTH
of which - Truffula trees and disposable income -
are limited resources.
