This whole thing sounds like a post asking if
that "account security" email from ebay or
paypal was "legit". People should just know
better than to even question an obvious fraud
like this.
Call me nuts, but even if some sort of legal
action WAS being pursued, it would take a HELL
of a lot longer than 2 weeks from the first
complaint to total shutdown. I only wish things
went that smoothly and quickly in this country.
That ALONE should be enough to red flag this
whole thing.
If not, then it is blatantly obvious from the
attitude of this poster that this is a big lie.
All they did was see Nick's closing as an
opportunity to fabricate a slanderous story
around it. Its just a person who is pissed off
at Nick for one reason or another (or a
competitor) and is using this as a way to cause
Nick grief. If the story was true (lets ignore
the impossible 2 week turn-around for a moment),
the lawyer would NOT be posting on an internet
anime cel forum anonymously boasting about it,
giving up information which should be more
confidential, and generally acting like a
pompous asshole. And if this WAS because of the
$750/$1500/whatever (so many made-up figures,
its hard to keep track) insurance incident,
methinks the "settlement" would be for that
amount and wouldn't involve a shutdown
whatsoever.
Its a shame, because if lawsuits and settlements
WERE that easy, cheap, and quick, then maybe
Nick could indeed pursue this loser in a libel
case. Mighty America is a kid who doesn't
understand the possible consequences of what he
is doing here.
All that being said, I've been in business for
myself before and I completely understand why it
is easier to just shutdown than drag things out
with final sales. It is simply not worth the
time sometimes. Nick is probably going to
unload his cels to a friend or sell them off as
a bundle to a fellow dealer or something of that
sort. Whatever he does with them is his
business. It shouldnt be suspicious that he
wants to spend his time and energy on the brand
new deputy site rather than linger on for
weeks/months trying to unload stock that wasn't
moving even with an 80% off sale. |
