the Shell is the single best example to show.  
The story is all about the growth of technology, 
and whether or not humanity can control it.

Then, another good one is Earth Girl Arjuna, 
though I'm not sure if you can get your hands on 
it.  It's been licensed (so fansubs are scarce), 
but not released officially yet.
