...and then there's K, from Gravitation. I like
to think of him as the stereotypical American
stereotype. Physically, he's really tall, blonde,
with blue eyes. He's loud-mouthed and obnoxious,
and has an obvious accent when speaking Japanese.
He also sticks English words in when he doesn't
know the Japanese. But the most noticable thing
about him (besides that he always, ALWAYS gets
what he wants) is that he has an obsession with
guns, and tends to shoot them off at the drop of
a hat. Frankly, I don't blame them for this
stereotype ^^;;
Of course, really, I think it's more of the
combined fascination/disgust that the Japanese
seem to have for all foreigners. Here's the
perfect example, from Hana Yori Dango:
In one of the story arcs, there's a character
named Thomas. Thomas is German, if I recall, and
he has blonde hair and blue eyes. When our
character first sees him, she is enthralled by
his exotic looks, and so is a friend with her.
He's sitting in a cafe, eating, and they approach
him as he is about to be served (amazed by his
blue eyes)...but when the food gets there, he
slurps it down in a disgusting manner. He then
proceeds to burp and fart at the table, wondering
why everyone is so upset...it's natural, you
should let it go when the urge comes, right?
Somehow, that works perfectly...
