I'm not so much bothered by these being "test"
cels -- it's all part of the production process
and really no different from buying rough genga,
settei, storyboards... none of which really show
up on the screen either.
What worries me, however, is the uniqueness and
quality of these items. There's really no
telling how many tests were made for each final
hanken. One? Two? A dozen? And if there are
more, how do the ones for sale at AC compare?
Better? Worse? Are these the rejected dogs of
the lot or the shining stars?
Bottom line: if more copies of these turn up for
sale, then the folks who paid $500 may feel a
little cheated. But if no more turn up, then
I'd say the buyers got a pretty good deal. It
all depends on how much of a gamble you're
willing to take. |
