I'm sorry but your pricing system is very basic
and incorrect. You are saying that the number of
cels available per cel collector is the same for
DBZ and for X !
DBZ: 291 episodes. With an average of, let's
say, 3500 cels per episode, we have
approximately 1 million cels.
X, the Movie: probably 100,000 to 200,000 cels,
maybe less, it's only a guess.
Do you really think that there are 5 to 10 times
more DBZ cel collectors as X cel collectors ? I
don't think so. You base yourself on the US
population only, this is where you're wrong.
Please remember that the US represent only 5% of
the population in the world. I know that DBZ is
quite a recent phenomenon in the US, but in
Europe and in Japan it's considered as old and
few people are interested in these series now.
The thing is from the moment DBZ was aired in
the US, cels from this show increased
unreasonnably. That's why I was talking about a
speculative bubble. Cel dealers noticed that the
americans were looking after DBZ cels, and
increased their prices consequently, knowing
that there would always be someone stupid enough
to buy those cels at incredible prices.
And what Nick says is certainly not the thruth,
otherwise he would never be able to do a 30, 40
or 50% discount on all cels as do practically
all cel dealers. I would be curious to know how
much he paid those X TEST cels that he is now
selling $500. Probably less than $100... |
