First off I was reply to possible explanations 
for the original question relating to ebay.  
I have no problems taking a loss over at ebay.  
If you take a look you'll see that I have SEVERAL 
cels over there now and in each and ever auction 
it SAYS that I'm taking a LOSS with the opening 
bid.  

Second, what I have problems with is bidders who 
contact you trying to get you to sell for even 
less than your opening bid ... in fact they want 
the cel for less than half of what you list it 
for.  I don't think that has anything to do with 
the market value (since I've sold those very same 
cels for cost), I think it has to do with buyers 
trying to take advantage of either the sellers 
situation (desperately needing the cash) or the 
cel economy (in a slump right now).  Obviously in 
this market deals are to be had but it's 
ridiculous some of the resquest people send out.  
I know I'm not alone, I've heard many similar 
stories.
