The problem is that people don't realize that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay... (Tue Jun 25 20:09:48 2002 )

So the seller has to acknowledge up front that
they may NOT resell for even close to what they
paid. That goes double if the market is volatile,
like production cels. On eBay over the last few
months, Sailormoon cels went for under $100 when
they would have sold for several hundred just a
month or so prior. (SM first season OP cel for
$66 - wha?)

Value is subjective. And you go to eBay because
you want to get a good deal, and b/c buyers have
more power over pricing. If you're a seller and
you want to try and "recoup" what you paid, then
try asking a dealer to host your cel for the
price you want.

Economically, what you paid for anything is a
sunk cost. You can't realistically consider it
when you resell. You essentially traded money for
whatever value/pleasure you derived from the
item, and when you resell it's the potential
BUYER that determines it's monetary value, not
you.

zefyr, if you really want to get what you paid,
contact a dealer, wait out the slump and hope SM
gets popular again, or just accept the fact that
you're going to take a "loss".
