I have run across several galleries that I 
couldn't read the text on unless I highlighted it. 
 It was very annoying.

After I got low presentation marks and saw some of 
the offenders above, I did go back and play with 
my gallery colors til I found something I liked 
that seemed easier to read.

I also changed graphics, again mainly from 
visiting other galleries to see what annoyed me.  
(That usually was unnecessary large images over 
200k - since when visiting family I use dialup and 
I hated waiting for big banner pics or large cel 
scans to load on sub cel pages).

Another thing that annoyed - couple galleries 
didn't thumbnail.  Its a one click thing that 
makes browsing a gallery so much easier.  It got 
really old in one gallery where everything was a 
text link instead of a picture.

Those are the type of things I would rate low for.
