My Goddess" reached $8000... Compared to the Evangelion hand-painted limited edition cels that are sold around $60 to $100 in Japanese shops. As it's copies, the "production" cost is the same whatever picture it is except if there is realy a differance of complexity between two pictures. But yes, making a copy of a Slam Dunk cel wouldn't be worth the work involved. Yes, it's exactly that ! The only differance is the quality of the result. But then, there is "fans" who worked in anime studio and who's job was to paint cels...
