1) What country do you live in?
USA
2) What do you predominantly collect, Western (
Disney, WB, Bluth, Film Roman, etc. ) or Eastern
( Anime ) animation art?
anime
3) What makes up the majority of your
collection? Production Cels, Sketches, Gengas,
Storyboards, etc?
Production cels.
4) What shows/movies/characters do you
predominantly collect?
Primarily Slayers, specifically Zelgadis. Dunno
why, but he's my favorite. (cranky like me?)
Secondarily I'm trying to snag at least one cel
of as many Midorikawa Hikaru characters as I can.
Also have a lot of El Hazard, and a few from most
of my other favorite shows.
5) When selecting your pieces, what do you
generally look for? ( close-ups, action poses,
character interactions, etc. )
I generally look for a beautiful rendering of the
character I like, as opposed to some cels (by
inbetweeners?) that are a little lopsided, or not
close enough to the key animator's vision.
Aside from that, I seem to like dramatic moments.
6) Where do you get the majority of your
animation art? ( Online Anime shops, Online
Anime dealers, local comic stores, local anime
shops, local animation art galleries ).
Online shops/dealers, although I have found some
of my best cels at anime conventions.
7) On the average, about how much do you spend
on animation art a month?
Maybe $100, with occasional huge spurts :)
8) How long have you been collecting?
2 years more or less.
9) What is the most you have ever paid for one
piece? What show/character was it?
A Slayers Zelgadis cel (surprise) for about
$250. Close runner up was Xellos, who I think
was about $200, although I don't remember exactly.
9) Why do you collect animation art? What draws
you to it?
It's beautiful. I'm overwhelmed by the talent.
Like a lot of others I primarily collect it
because I love the shows and am thrilled to
actually have a piece of them in my hand. |
