More surveys.....yay!
1) What country do you live in?
- United States
2) What do you predominantly collect, Western (
Disney, WB, Bluth, Film Roman, etc. ) or Eastern
( Anime ) animation art?
- Mostly Eastern Art (although I have a couple of
pieces of Western Art)
3) What makes up the majority of your
collection? Production Cels, Sketches, Gengas,
Storyboards, etc?
- Production Cels
4) What shows/movies/characters do you
predominantly collect?
- CLAMP works tend to be my favorite. I usually
focus on Magic Knights Rayearth and Card Captor
Sakura cels. My favorite characters of which I
have or would like to have more than one cel of
include Lantis from Magic Knights Rayearth and
Evil Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi.
5) When selecting your pieces, what do you
generally look for? ( close-ups, action poses,
character interactions, etc. )
- For Rayearth, my favorite series, I'm looking
for nice close-ups of each of the characters.
For any of my other cel purchases, I tend to
buy them based on my favorite episodes or scenes
that I particularly enjoyed from an anime movie
or series.
6) Where do you get the majority of your
animation art? ( Online Anime shops, Online
Anime dealers, local comic stores, local anime
shops, local animation art galleries ).
- Anime Dealers & Online Anime Shops
7) On the average, about how much do you spend
on animation art a month?
- My cel spending fluctuates from month to month
depending on my own cash flow, availability of
cels that I'd like to own, online site updates,
conventions, and the occasional online anime
dealer sale. Generally, I spend anywhere from
$0 to $500 a month.
8) How long have you been collecting?
- Two years
9) What is the most you have ever paid for one
piece? What show/character was it?
- Actually, the most expensive cel that I own is
of Evil Tamahome with his bandana from Fushigi
Yuugi episode 20. However, I actually traded a
website's owner a couple of highly sought after
wishlist cels to get it instead of paying a flat
monetary value. At the time, the hard to find
cels that I traded were worth about $700.
10) Why do you collect animation art? What
draws
you to it?
- The intrinsic artistic value of a hand painted
animation cel still amazes me with the talent of
the artists and film makers that were required to
make an anime movie or series possible. Of
course,
the simple answer could be that I just like the
pretty colors. *Shrugs*
Good Luck!
