Two of my big interests outside of cel collecting
are:
1. Ancient Egyptian society and art (not owning
it, but collecting endless books on both
subjects). I've only had time to actually read
half of the library I've built up. My "to read"
pile gets bigger with every trip to Borders. ^_^;
2. Collecting Hard Rock Cafe pins.
The bonus to #2 is that there are Hard Rock Cafe
pins styled with ancient Egpytian themes, of
which I'm only missing three -- two of the
newest "common" ones, and one opening staff pin
of which there were less than 100 made. (When I
do finally nail that last one, it will probably
cost me more than almost any one cel I've bought.)
Two times I almost had a chance to overlap my cel
collecting with the ancient Egyptian theme! In
Master of Mosquiton OVA, there is a sequence with
a pyramid guardian riding a sphynx (of whom I
dearly want a cel!! ;_;), but I was outbid on the
one and only decent cel I've seen of her, which
was on Yahoo Japan. Then last year ago or so,
there was a pan Mosquiton TV cel of Inaho dressed
up in ancient Egyptian-looking clothes. I didn't
have the money to bid on it as high as I wanted
to, but I've been saving some aside in case it
shows up for sale again. ^_~~ So if you're the
person who bought it and you need some cash. . .
(*points to e-mail address above* ^_~~)
I don't know of any cels of Hard Rock Cafe pins,
but if by some sick chance I did find one. . . I
would absolutely HAVE to have it! It would be too
funny to hang next to my six foot long banner
full of pins. ^_^
But the rocks thing is so great!! *^_^* I had
huge rock collection when I was little. If a rock
had spots, a striation(sp?), or mica in it, it
got tucked away in my room somewhere. ^_^ I even
have a 150carat piece of low-grade sapphire (named
"Icewater"). But rock-wise, nothing beat out
quartz. Near where I lived, there was an old
quarry full of quartz, through which I'd dig for
the best pieces. I called it The White Rocks
Place. Are they worthless? Three treasures from
that collection now grace my fishtank, a piece of
rose quartz, white quartz, and slate quartz --
each one about the size of a softball. ^_^ I saw
similar rocks in an aquarium supply store for
about $8-12 each. Mine were free and (I think) a
better grade! ^_~~~~
If your little one still wants price stickers,
drop me an e-mail with your address. ^_^ I get
numerous cels from Anime World Star, which all
come with price tags in yen. I usually throw them
out, but for a fellow collector, I could put a
few in an envelope with a stamp. ^_~
