I love an ongoing plot, too, which is one
reason prefer anime over American cartoons.
However, CN has started a new show called Samuri
Jack that's serial. I caught eps 2 & 3 and was
pretty impressed. I loved the clean animation
style which is quite a departure from other CN
shows like Ed, Edd, and Eddy. I also liked the
almost total lack of dialoug in ep. 3 which is
something I can't remember seeing in an American
cartoon (other than the musical Looney Toons).
If CN would start putting more intelligent,
serial shows on, it would probably help attract
adult viewers (instead of resorting to stunts
like Adult Swim). Of course, how many adults
watch CN to catch the classics like Looney Toons
and Hanna Barbara anyway? Personally, I like
watching those toons because they're light and
I'm able to relax, laugh, and forget the bad
stuff for a while.
If adults are too lazy to watch
serial 'toons, why do serial shows like ER
flourish? The programmers need to give us a
little more credit!!
