I'm relatively new here, but I've gotten a great 
deal of wisdom and help from this forum in the 
few months that I've known about it.

However, although new here, I'm quite old on the 
Internet.  I've been on the 'net since about 1978 
(when it was called "ARPAnet" and the 
term "InterNet" had not been invented), and I've 
been in a lot of unmoderated forums and 
dicussions groups since 1978.

Even at it's very worst, this forum is among the 
kindest, gentlest, and most helpful of the many 
that I've been in (many of which I've dropped out 
of or given up on).

I'm not saying that a FAQ is a bad idea, or that 
this forum cannot be made even better than it 
already is, but geez, don't be too hard on this 
forum or on yourselves.  Just visit 
rec.audio.high-end, www.audioasylum.com, 
www.animeondvd.com (on a bad day), 
www.fansubs.net (on a bad day), or the 
general/random MegaTokyo forum (on almost any day)
to see how gentle and helpful this forum is by 
comparison.
