I think items are priced to the demand of the
series and priced to how common the dealer can
get the cels. 10 years ago I got a bunch of
Miyazaki Kiki cels for under 40 and now I see
them sell for well over 500. If I were to sell
any of my own, I would never price them below
500 because I will no longer be able to get them
below that price.
As for "cel ethics" goes...thats kind of a silly
statement. The hobby is a business
unfortunately, if it wasnt for the business
there wouldnt be cels on YJ or Ebay and you
would probably never see them. So in a way the
overpricers help everyone out, because more cels
will be released.
Cels are one of a kind and I can see why people
want to hold on to certain items and price them
high. It has nothing to do the ethics. When it
comes down to it, they own the cel and they can
price it as high as they want. Of course if it
truly is priced too high, they will never sell
it and thats too bad for them I suppose.
If people didnt sell any cels for pure profit
there wouldnt be much of a hobby out there. |
