What's so pretentious about Sensei? It means 
teacher.  They might teach physics or math or it 
could just be a nickname.  Why would that name 
imply anything about reading Japanese?  Half the 
people on this forum have Japanese handles and I 
bet only a handful of them read Japanese.

Personally, I think it's more pretentious to 
post under an attempt at a clever name to make 
fun of someone asking for help.

At least Sensei didn't choose 'sama'.
