These days, I set my limits based on the "wow"
factor: does this particular cel speak to me so
quickly and so strongly that I have an immediate
pull towards it? If so, the limit goes up.
If it's just a nice cel, at a fair price, but it's
still a bit more than I really wanted to spend, I
pass. I know from experience it doesn't matter if
the price is fair overall - if it's more than *I*
want to spend, I'm going to hate myself in the
morning.
I do have some "big bucks" cels that I paid quite a
lot for, but every single time I look at them, I
smile. I love looking at them, I love having them,
I love how they make me feel. They were worth every
penny.
My advice is that if you're not comfortable paying
the price for the cel, don't. You'll ALWAYS look at
that cel and remember you paid too much, which saps
away a lot of your enjoyment of it - and isn't the
enjoyment the point of cel collecting?
