Perhaps that's true here and there, but I doubt
it's true most of the time. I have only *once*
posted cels in my gallery without captions, and
quickly decided I hated it that way. Is the
information necessary? No. Maybe no one will care
what I have to say about the cels. Those people
are welcome to skip the descriptions.
I always identify the character and anime from
which the cel comes. I also note if a background
is original and/or known to be matching. After
that, I enjoy including little anecdotes about my
cels with the scans. If you do read my captions,
you'll find I don't spend the whole page gushing
about the beauty of the cels. I love including
stupid facts about my collection as a whole, or
interesting stories about the cels (which may or
may not directly have anything to do with the cel
itself).
Information isn't only for selling. I think it
makes it more interesting. Think about it. . .
How often do you see an art museum which displays
no information on the pieces in it's collection?
