Id like to offer a really sincere thanks to
everyone who responded. Everyone who knows me at
least a little well and has spoken with me
privately knows what a stickler I am about line
fading. I would pass up even a dream cel due to
bad line fading. It's the first, and I mean the
very first thing I look at when I see a cel I
like. If there is bad fading, I wont touch the
cel. The scan the seller of my cel had on her
site looked perfect..no damage, black lines, just
gorgeous. When I got the cel though, I
mean...you should see it. I didnt post it here
because I dont want to start anything with the
person who sold it to me. I feel really badly
about the situation.
As for restoration. Im the one who posted all
that info. I have found a place who's been doing
restoration for 25 years on animation cels.
They've been dealing with asian animation art for
much of that time, and very familiar with the
problems with the lines. I've recieved a packet
from them about the procedure...you guys wouldnt
beleive the care they take in doing their work.
If this kind of care reduces the value of the
cel...I dont know what gives. It's really
amazing, and Im considering sending my cel to
them. It takes them anywhere from 1-2 years to
get it back to you, but reading the packet I
understand why. I bought the cel because it IS a
dreamcel, Id wanted one (this particular one) for
a very long time. I normally wouldnt be this
upset, but...I paid an incredible amt of money
for what I thought was perfection. I do intend
to contact the seller about this. I doubt I can
recoup even a couple hundred of my offer, but
that would be worth it to me.
I bought the cel for myself, and not with the
thought of value in my mind...but when you think
you're getting something really special, and come
to find you got something less...that really
stings. Dreamcel, fancy car, nice house..it's
all the same. When you get something that you
only thought you could dream of owning, then
discover you've been given something less without
even knowing it...that just does something to
you. Thanks again to everyone, I really
appreciate the kind words :). I will keep some
of you guys up to date about this, as it has
caused me much grife.. If and when I decide to
send the cel in for restoration, I will post
about it here, with a before pic, and an after
pic ^_~ I still dont know 100% what Im going to
do..but time will tell. |
