Here's my personal opinion.
If you want to have the cel restored, do it. If
that can recapture a little of the joy of owning
it. Do it. It was your money, to be spent as you
choose. If you feel that the cel will not leave
your possession again. Do it.
Bottom line, you probably won't be able to recoup
what you paid at this point. You may actually
even increase the value of the cel by having it
restored, but make sure that if you do sell it,
you fully disclose what has been done to it and
explain why.
As far as the contacting the seller... I would
let them know that you're not happy with them. I
would also let them know that you will make
readily available the information on their
business ethics to anyone that inquires unless
they make some effort to work with you or at the
very least apologize.
They obviously knew that the cel was damaged, and
they chose not to fill you in on that fact before
they took your money. Makes you wonder if they've
done this to anyone else.
Anyway, just go with your instincts. It's your
cel, do what makes you happy.
