It is really great that YJ is out there, but using
it requires a bit of foresight if you are going to
do it using a deputy and not cause problems.
There is a few things you might want to do before
bidding on a yj auction especially when using your
own ID.
1. If you are going to use a deputy service ask
them in advance before you bid and win the
auction. Some deputy services do not like to
handle auctions not won under their own ident due
to problems like this. Asking them in advance
means that they know to have the funds available
to cover your auction and means you do not have to
worry about the deputy saying no.
2. If the deputy agrees that he will handle the
auction, ask him if he is willing to have you
change the e-mail on the yj account to his. If the
deputy agrees, this saves a lot of problems. As a
friendly thing, if the deputy agrees, you probably
should turn off all sending other than the end of
auction report on your yj account.
3. If the deputy does not want to handle your
e-mails, forward the e-mail from the seller
directly to the deputy. Do not answer it yourself
unless you really know japanese well and do not
sound like a foreigner when you write in it. Even
then it probably is better if you let the deputy
handle it so that there is only one e-mail address
that replies to the auction
4. If the seller will not believe the deputy
becuase the e-mail response is coming from another
e-mail address, ask the deputy to write you a note
that you can forward to the seller from your
e-mail so that the problem can be fixed (you can
write it yourself, but again keep point 3 in
mind).
5. Occassionally, the seller will want to ship
only to you (even if its internationally) and not
a deputy (it does happen ocassionally). If this
occurs, please write a note to your deputy
explaining what happen and thank the deputy for
their help even though it will not be needed this
time. This is called not pissing off your deputy
service.
While these rules may not apply in every
situation, in most common situations they should
keep you out of trouble.
Catch you later,
