I admit I have a visa... but its attached to my
checking account, so anything I 'charge' is
automatically deducted, no interest, no debt. I
can't get anything I couldn't buy with a check.
My mom actually signed me up for a credit card a
year or so ago for emergencies, forgot about it,
didn't give it to me, and then... it was charged
to the limit (which was only like $200
thankfully) inexplicably and I never got bills
for, and it accumulated added fees, etc. How did
this happen? Well when we called them up, it
turned out to be a computer error and it turned
out nothing was ever charged to it... it just had
a balance. I mean... what the HELL? I'm not
sure if their error is going to ruin my credit,
(it very well could, even though it's not my
fault) but it pisses me off.
My roommate is telling me I'm an idiot for not
having a credit card (so I can build 'good
credit' by the time I get out of college) but
um... well... she maxed out hers just before
chirstmas buying exhorbitant gifts for her new
boyfriend even though she doesn't have a winter
job to fall back on when all the bills come... >.<
So I've already got an aversion to credit
cards... which is probably a good thing for now.
That, and I'll always hate them for all the times
they woke me up early in the morning in my dorm
demanding I give them info so they could sign me
up for this card... and that card... 'oh, you
already have a visa? well you don't have OUR
visa...' ugh. |
