I'm sorry folks, but I just cannot understand
what the uproar is over winning/reselling cels
from Yahoo! Japan. If you condemn those people,
you condemn Taro, Yann, Nick, and every other cel
dealer. I know, you say, "But they're different!
They are legitimate dealers, not these profiteers
who swoop down and ruin our hobby!" Does having
a store front really make a difference? Or
perhaps because they are collectors too, absolves
them from your criticism? Whether you like it or
not, what our favorite dealers do the same as
the Yahoo! Japan folk--obtain cels from Japan and
resell them for a profit.
All this complaining about prices really needs to
be redirected to whose truly to blame: the
buyers. How can you blame anyone for buying a cel
for $10 and reselling it for $200 IF THERE IS
SOMEONE OUT THERE WILLING TO SHELL OUT $200
DOLLARS FOR IT? Perhaps you argue that these
buyers are uneducated, that they don't know that
these cels can be bought for a lot less. Well,
that's their problem. I know that when I first
get into a hobby, I literally go out and soak up
every bit of info that I can. If they rather
squander their money rather than their time and
energy to learn of alternatives, so be it. I
have no sympathy for them.
I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but cel collecting
*is* about money. You buy cels with money. People
sell cels to make money. Some people will have
more money than you to buy cels. Most things in
life are about money. I work in the financial
industry to get a paycheck, not because I love
finance. Does that make me a sad, pathetic, money
making soul as well?
Just my opinion...
