People who habitually buy cels I already had
access to so they can resell them are _not_
providing a useful service, they are providing
unwanted competition.
But that's the nature of the free market,
especially regarding items that are in limited
supply. What I see here is people taking this
cold, hard fact of commerce personally, and I
don't think that's cool. It's not
logical, you know?
The more connections a fan has, the more
people fall into the parasitic category.
That's exactly why I think this sort of thing
shouldn't be taken personally-- it's the same
with every collector's market. I also collect
Japanese toys, and it's gotten to the point where
I have a very small circle of retailers and
dealers that I buy from, because I trust them to
cut me a good deal. When I see a toy that's way
more than I'd be willing to pay for (example: at
a local retail store, I saw the Master Grade
Gundam Sazabi model kit for $250-- it's a 8900
yen kit) I just shake my head and go foraging
elsewhere. This whole "These people are EVIL!"
business isn't warranted, IMO.
