That is a good question. I do have auctions, but I
make it a point not to auctions all my best stuff unlike
some.
As for it being a form of "soaking".....its hard to say.
The goal of an auction is to get as much as you can....but
sometimes you don't get much.
In auctions.....pepole pay what they are willing to pay...
but it's not always what they want to pay.
