I think people are more afraid of fake cels being sold as real ones than they are of people using their images for "illegal" actions. Mr. Labadessa said that he didn't "steal" that image from any particular cel (though it is very much like one of a set that sold at Anime Taro.) After all, I have seen many fan cels where I know someone must own the original ones. I think someone just mentioned that they thought it was unnerving to see their cel elsewhere and others worried about the etiquette of such a thing...certainly not getting bent out of shape. Also, I think most of the argument is really over the letter of the law and excepting/acknowledging it, not the art itself. As for fan cels and 'stolen' images, I wonder if they would actually make the cel somehow more valuable by increasing it's exposure and therefore it's identifibility. It would be neat to read a discussion on fan cels on a whole, but probably not in this thread because Mr. Labadessa is taking things a little too personally. Of course, that's not to stop everyone from taking it a little too personally in a more abstract debate... Keys Maybe my luggage will arrive...someday... |
