Re: Should you collect cels from series you haven't see or don't really like? (Thu Jul 11 20:06:16 2002 )

Why not? :o)

It's unlikely that anyone's going to pursue
anything rabidly that they haven't seen or don't
care for. And yet, if a character design catches
your fancy, or a particular image really jumps
out at you and says, "Give me a home!" and you
have the fundage available--- why not?

Otherwise, the argument will start sliding
towards the old "should cels should go to the
biggest fans" debate, and that's just wrong. I've
lost out on cels that I've wanted soooooo badly
to people who have "random cute girl"
collections. But because they got there faster--
or because they bid higher than I was willing to
go-- the cel ended up theirs. Did they want the
cel as much as I did? Did it mean more to them
than it meant to me? Probably not. But were they
willing to pay more to get it? Yes. And so the
cel's their's, and I move on with my search. ^_^

So whether the situation is a matter of someone
stumbling across a series that's little-known and
never fansubbed or licensed, with a very small
fanbase--- or if the situation is a matter of
someone buying up all the cels of a popular
series that they're the only person on the planet
who's never seen it... it doesn't matter.

As long as they can afford it, no one has to
justify the perameters of their collection or
whether or not they're worthy enough to do what
they want to. :o)
