-Since anime is no longer made using cels, there
is nothing new to collect... so collectors get
bored with nothing to collect, then sell off their
collections and leave.
-Decrease in the number of cel dealers as cel
dealers also lose interest (they are collectors
too)& also find it harder to get substitute goods
for sale such as genga, douga, or reproduction cels.
-Death (or lack of updating) of anime cel
collecting sites.
-Increase in E-bay listing fees, so people don't
list as many cels as they once may have. Hence
smaller selection available to buy, and lower
quality cels are offered.
I'm sure some people may disagree with me, but I
think cel collecting is a dying hobby. There are
some cels that still command a lot of $$$, but
prices in general have decreased quite a bit. A
cel isn't worth anything (monetarily) unless you
can find a buyer. And fiding a buyer is getting
more and more difficult. The only anime cels that
exist are from 'older' shows, and as time goes on,
people forget about them and lose interest. You
would need a re-release of a 2nd season or a movie
to re-kindle people's interests in that show. |
