The idea is usualy to make the diff between an 
anime made with painted cels or one where there 
isn't. For that reason, it seems easier to use an
abreviation that people have at least some chance 
to recognize than one that will just make them ask 
more questions...
After all, CG is a correct term even if it's more 
generic.
