Not sure which Splash Page YOU contacted, but I
have been dealing with Splash Page for over 9
years now and have never had anything but
excellent experiences with them. Well a large
portion of my cel collection comes from them and I
couldn’t be happier about it. There are a couple
of points in your message though I would like to
address.
“I sent them an e-mail concerning concerning an
anime cel that they'd had on their site for about
6 years now”
I am sorry, but I doubt that. I visit their site
weekly and have not seen any cel stay up there
that long.
“and asked if they'd take a lower offer on it. I
made them an offer(about half the asking price)”
How much is “about half”?
“That's all they wrote. Me, RUDE? You've got to be
kidding me! I've done business with collectors
and dealers for years, and have always had no
trouble with offers. I mean...If a cel's been on
a website, and hasn't sold for over 6 years at
the price listed...Wouldn't you think taking
offers on lower prices would be negotiable?!”
Well how did you word it? (I noticed you posted
what their e-mail said, but not what yours said
exactly) Do you have an established history with
their business? From the tone you are taking
here, I can only speculate on the tone of your
original e-mail.
“So, a warning...Their customer service is very
rude”
They have never been anything but polite and
prompt with me. As I just happened to have posted
a few days ago on this very forum, I first found
them through Toy Shop magazine and they went above
and beyond to help me from that very first call.
“, and it seems they have no clue in what
they're doing when it comes to anime cels.”
You infer that from one e-mail exchange from
them? Again, without knowing the specifics of
your e-mail and your offer, I have to believe some
info is missing here. And from what I know of
their cel knowledge, you would be surprised how
much they know. I owe many of the really gorgeous
cels in my collection to them.
“Like the title of their website says, "Splash
Page Comics and Toys"...They should just keep
dealing with children”
That comment makes no sense at all. What does the
name of a company have anything to do with this?
“...Cause I have no standing for being treated
like a child!”
Then may I suggest you stop throwing a tantrum?
You sound like my two teenage children when they
don’t get their way.
I am sorry if it sounds like I am attacking you,
but you are attacking my favorite store. And what
I know of them from my dealings with them…certain
aspects of your post do not sound like the company
I know at all.
If you, as I suspect, approached a company you
have never dealt with and offered them however
much “about half” is for a cel, I can see where
they might take offense. I know that I wouldn’t
be happy if someone did the same to me on one of
the cels I occasionally sell. Personally I would
never ask for a discount on my first dealing with
a company, but that is just me.
