Cel collecting is the highest level of "fandom".  
People who collect shitajikis, soundtracks, 
manga, and all the other collectibles do not own 
a unique original item like a cel used in the  
production process.  Owning a cel is the closest 
thing possible to being part of the production of 
the anime, without being mentioned in the ending 
credits.

So all of us cel collectors, in my opinion are 
the truest anime fans out there.  I laugh at the 
so called otakus who own every doll, garage kit, 
soundtrack, and shitajiki but don't own one cel 
from the series they love so much.
