...but I DO get angry when people take my cel
images. I can't really EXPLAIN it, I just get
kind of riled up. It angers me. Part of it is the
work that went into scanning that cel and putting
up a gallery, but that's not all of it. I think
Lizzard expressed it best on her website (and
excuse me for borrowing this, verbatim, Lizzard!):
"These are one-of-a-kind cels and sketches, not
mass-produced fodder for the world's anime
archives. If you do not know what a cel is, use a
search engine to find out. Cels are not the same
as screenshots and book scans."
That's EXACTLY how I feel. Thank you for the much
more eloquent expression of my emotions towards
this issue, Lizzard, I hope you don't mind that I
borrowed them.
Moving onto the eBay issue...frankly, I think
it's stupid to say that it's "public
domain"...because the entire web is public
domain! You can go to a cel website and steal
images just as easily as you can go to eBay and
steal them, so I think that argument falls
through. The person still OWNS the cel, even as
they are selling it. I would have at least ASKED
permission.
Eh. In the words of Dennis Miller, that's just my
opinion, I could be wrong...
