I'd consider something like checking the Internet
between 12-3 AM (my time) for one dealer and then
5-7 AM (again, my time) for another (on top of
actually living my life during the day) each and
every single day for the rest of my collecting
life to be far beyond inconvenient... it's (like
I said) unrealistic.
Even when I'm not getting wasted, I need to
sleep. And if someone who wakes up 3 hours
earlier than I do, wouldn't they have an
advantage over me for the odd-hour updates (like
the two hypothetical updates above)? It doesn't
necessarily have to mean that they catch the
updates right when they happen, but they still
are more likely to acquire those cels than I
would be.
As I mentioned a little further down, it can be
considered that people with typical lives (who
have to go to work or school during the day) may
be the ones who benefit or get hurt in comparison
to others due to where (or more specifically,
when) they live. The issue applies more to
normal folks like them.
I consider that those collectors who are slaves
to their computer (or be willing to be awake at
odd hours on a daily basis) should be disregarded
in this argument, because they'll have an
advantage no matter where they are (and of
course, time zones wouldn't matter to them).
If I knew a big update was going to happen at 3
AM on a certain day, I would stay up for it. But
for every day of every week? Come on, now... |
