Yes, U.S. consumers have driven up cel prices, so
I have become dormant in the cel market. I hang
on to the cels that I have. If I see a cel I like
that is going for a reasonable price, I might get
it. Unfortunately, most of the cels I like cost
more than I am willing to pay. However, I have
notice collectors who resell on ebay frequently
claim to have lost money on cels they resell. In
some cases, I believe it. Personally, I think
some collectors are hooked on cels like a drug
addict. Generally, cels are safer than drugs, at
most, you lose your credit rating, your house,
your car... If you have a good job, you can
afford to pander your addiction. Whatever. It is
pointless to be angry about it. If you really
have to have it, bid $20,000. You'll probably get
it. Me, I don't think its worth it, but I am not
an addict.
Personally, I have probably bid only a couple of
times for cels on ebay. I have only won once. I
usually put in my final bid (the most I am
willing to pay, and not one dollar more) one or
two hours before the deadline. Last minutes
sniping is rather childish and people who do this
for fun probably have nothing better to do.
